Principal’s Message Do you follow us on Instagram? See what is happening at JB! Click here. All JBN events are on the JBN Parent calendar JB Nelson Families, A HUGE “Thank you” to the PTO for funding our fourth grade Springfield Field Trip and to the fourth grade teachers for all the hard work in planning the logistics for us to see four monuments while we were there as well as a stop for dinner on the way home! We are also very grateful for all of the parents that chaperoned on this trip! We loved welcoming our kindergarten students at our “Sneak Peek” event on Wednesday night and were excited to have them see the classrooms and walk away with games and goals for the students over the summer as well as information for parents to help them prepare for the transition into school next year. It is so hard to believe that we are starting prep for Field Day! This will take place on May 21st. We have been fortunate in past years to have many willing parent volunteers come in and help lead all the fun games for the day. Field day is truly one of the highlights of the year for all the kids thanks to the help of JBN families. If you are interested in volunteering for field day this year, please sign up here. Please refer to the PTO website for more detailed information about the schedule for field day. If you have any questions about field day, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mr. Albrecht : phillip.albrecht@bps101.net Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you to all parents who have donated treats or your time next week to celebrate the staff. Remember that Thursday students can bring in flowers for their teachers. We hope you enjoy your weekend and we will see you on Monday! Mrs. Prentiss S.E.L. (Social Emotional Learning) School-Home connections to help students grow their SEL skills! BPS Strategic Plan Priority 2, Strategy 3-Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Programs BPS Strategic Plan Priority 2, Strategy 4-Family & Community Partnerships All students at JBN learn about social emotional skills in their daily classroom meetings. All teachers follow the District’s Portrait of a Graduate sequence grades K-5. For the month of April, our focus is on Motivation Motivation is the feeling or energy that helps us want to do something. It’s like the “fuel” that helps us try our best, even when things are hard. When we’re motivated, we stay focused on our goals and keep going, whether it’s finishing a task, learning something new, or helping a friend. Motivation comes from inside us, but it can also come from others, like when a teacher encourages us or we think about the rewards for doing our best. It helps us believe we can do anything if we keep trying! Students are learning about using perseverance to overcome challenges! Specifically, how to adjust mindsets by pausing, reflecting, and setting new goals to keep motivation when facing challenges!
