Free and Reduced Lunch Programs

For our students who receive free/reduced lunch during the school day, there are guidelines that must be followed in order for the lunch to qualify as free/reduced. Clubs and Activities

Each week, our students will get a “Peek at the Week” that will share important announcements for clubs and activities. At RMS we believe that students finding a club or activity where they belong and engage with their peers is a powerful thing. We will share the Peek at the Week in the messenger as well to ensure you have access to the important information. We also have an RMS Clubs and Activities Instagram page dedicated to highlighting all the great things that happen at RMS!

RMS Boys Basketball

Attention all 7th and 8th Grade boys interested in trying out for RMS Basketball this year, try-outs will begin on October 17th and run for 3 days.  After these days players will be placed into different levels in our program.  We do not cut any players wanting to play basketball.  All players must have a physical on file and must be able to commit to all practices and games through the season.  Season runs October 17th through right before Winter Break.  Please visit this link for everything related to RMS Boys Basketball Any questions email Coach Sullivan ryan.sullivan@bps101.net.

Bus Evacuation Drill

The State of Illinois requires that each school conduct a yearly school bus evacuation drill.  This drill is run by our service providers, First Student and Illinois Central, and has been scheduled for October 4th. Our primary goal for our drill schedule is to minimize the disruption to instructional time while allowing students to practice bus evacuation safely. On the morning of October 4th, students who ride buses will practice an evacuation upon arrival at school. Additionally, we will have opportunities for students who do not ride buses to complete the drills during non-instruction times. Deans, campus monitors, and administrators will facilitate all drills.

Annual Walk or Bike to School Day

Our annual Fall Walk to School Day, Kane County’s Fit for Kids program, is scheduled for October 4h! Walk or Bike to school on October 4th and be entered into a raffle. Join all students in the county for Walk or Bike to School Day! Be safe and use crosswalks!

BAT for Brady

Batavia Youth Baseball is running a Wiffle Ball Tournament Fundraiser for an RMS student. Children and Adults can participate or donate to the cause.

Advisory

Our Advisory theme for the month of October is Initiative. Students will reflect on study strategies, identify how to break larger projects into manageable tasks, and brainstorm ways to overcome obstacles to stay motivated as they wrap up Quarter 1 and head into Quarter 2. Ask your child how they can apply these strategies and take initiative at home!

Yearbook

In Powerschool, you can purchase your student’s yearbook for $30. When you log into PowerSchool, go to “payments” and hit the “pay now” button, from here select “add optional items” where you can add a yearbook to your student’s account. Yearbooks will be handed out the last week of school. We will not be ordering extra yearbooks, so please purchase early to ensure your student receives one.

Reminders for Student Drop Off/Pick Up

Overall our student drop off line has been running smoothly, but we want to share a couple of reminders.  If you are driving students to school, the main entrance off of Raddant Road is the primary drop-off location. However, we realize this can become very congested, so some alternatives to this are dropping off on Norcross Drive near the path that leads right to RMS. In addition, you can drop at the corner of Papermill Hill and Barkei Drive, and students can walk up the sidewalk on Papermill Hill to school. Please do not enter the large parking lot near the cafeteria/athletic entrance, as this is where our buses drop off students. Entering this lot to drop off students creates safety hazards for students and buses. When entering the drop off lane, pull as far forward as possible to ensure cars can pull up behind you. Make sure students are ready to exit when you enter the parking lot to minimize wait time. Thanks for your cooperation with this!
