The District Weekly for July 28, 2023
Hello, BPS101 Families-
We have spent the summer months preparing to have your students back in our buildings, and we can’t wait to have them back! This is a quick Messenger with details on PowerSchool, health form reminders, school lunch prices, and Early Childhood screening services. All BPS101 messengers can be found and translated into over 125 languages on our News Wall.
PowerSchool
Annually, all parents or guardians must register each student for the upcoming school year. Registration ensures that critical information is up-to-date, including emergency contact information, parent permissions, and parental notices.
The parent portal in PowerSchool is scheduled to open on August 1, around 9:00 a.m. Please start the process by visiting our Returning Student Registration page on our website. Once registration is complete, fees are paid, or a payment plan is established, the student’s schedule will be available. Bus routes may be displayed but could change before the first day of school, so we ask that you check the bus route and pickup time information on the night of August 15th.
Health Forms and Immunizations
If you have a student that will be entering kindergarten, 2nd, 6th, 9th, or 12th grade, there are medical forms that need to be submitted prior to the first day of school. There are also requirements if you are enrolling a student that will be attending an Illinois school for the first time. Please check our Health Services page for all health form and immunization requirement details.
Sports Physicals and Registration
All 6th-12th grade students planning to participate in a BPS101 Fall sport must register for RMS Sports HERE or Register for BHS Sports HERE. The deadline for filing your IHSA sports physical is TODAY. You will then need to add the sports fee to your PowerSchool account during the school registration process on or after August 1.
School Lunch Prices
At the May 23rd Board of Education meeting, a 10-cent increase in meal prices was approved. Pricing for school meals for the 23-24 school year is as follows:
Breakfast K-8: $1.60
Breakfast 9-12: $1.80
